Possibly the best interview on that deep dive.

A real effort would have been involved in getting Kathy into a hard hat dive suit.  Most women would not attempt it.  We’ve known Kathy to go camping and sleep in a tent pitched on snow.  A big deal in Australia.

A collection of Page 3 Sydney newspaper shots from a scrapbook plus smaller  news items.  In this era there was fierce rivalry between two Sydney tabloid newspapers, The Sun and The Daily Mirror.  Both featured bikini girls on Page 3.  ‘The Mirror’ used 6x6cm cameras which gave them an edge with quality against The Sun which had switched to 35mm almost exclusively for their photography.

Weekly magazines were PIX, Australasian Post, People.  These color covers gave young models 156 opportunities per year for exposure.  Women s magazines Women’s Weekly, Woman’s Day were lesser opportunities but with higher circulations.

A cover shot on Women’s Weekly is gold in terms of good publicity.  It’s one of the most successful magazines in the world – in demographic reach and survives today – not as a weekly but as a monthly, as does Women’s Day.

PIX, Post and Everybody’s have gone.  People may survive – with a much different content formula.

Editors choice – the top nine – however we hope there will more more pictures in the near future AND PERHAPS THE VIDEO (Skippy – The Marine Biologist featuring Kathy as herself).
