In real life Kathy was a marine biologist who worked at The Australian Museum and the CSIRO Fisheries at South Cronulla.  An episode of Skippy featured Kathy as herself.

Underwater scenes were filmed at Seal Rocks by Ron and Valerie Taylor and their assistant, John Harding. (Later cut to a minimum by the film editors).  Kathy was given just minutes notice to prepare for a weekend trip away and departed from the studio (Fauna Productions) for this fishing village site, once famous for big fish, grey nurse sharks and rock lobster.

Could apply to Skippy too.
