The Dunbar bell.

The Dunbar bell.

Stills from 35mm newsreel negatives.  First divers on the Dunbar wreck site 1950s. Using twin air cylinders is Wally Gibbins (right) with diving equipment manufacturer Don Linklater.  On the water is Ron Clisold  on the ski.  View from the cliff shows position where ship struck rocks, close to the notorious suicide location “The Gap”. (which is a ‘gap’ in the cliff face).  121 people perished in the Dunbar disaster, 1857.  More died in modern times jumping off the cliff in desperation to end their suffering.

THE DUNBAR shipwreck at the entrance to Sydney Harbor contained all the family belongings for 121 migrants in 1857 plus the ship's cargo. Ten thousand gold sovereigns were never found - or nobody was admitting to it. Coins with holes drilled through them were from neck chains.

Rick  Swansborough in the background who took many of the first professional pictures of Kathy pre her time with Skippy and commercial modeling.   Party was at Jane Street, Balmain – in that era the large house was a regular venue.   Three 18 gallon kegs of beer per party, girls admitted free – guys paid for the beer.

Late at night, various celebrity  musicians and dancers would arrive after work and jam until dawn.

Friend in Hand Hotel (in 1971) at 58 Cowper Street, Glebe (featured under a different name in an episode of RAKE in 2015).  Licensee and his son (not shown) were diving companions of Kathy.
